Happy Leap Day
If you're bored and a dork (nothing wrong with that - everyone has their moments) here's the details about it.
Well TGIF. I as usual have Fridayitis. Don't feel like accomplishing much. Especially after a long hard tiring week. Jokingly, I have Fridayitis and Tendonitis. Awesome!
I still hate this brace that I have on. But I have decided to reuse my roll of bandage to 1) help cushion the stupid splint from digging into my inner wrist and 2) to restrict the movement of my thumb.
Hopefully this speeds up recovery. Ugh I hate not being able to move. :\

Insightful read
I was at my favorite online comic site and I saw one of their blogs (I am super curious. Especially coz this thing is a new endeavor for me) that had a linky to the best of craigslist. I ran across that article.
Food for thought? ;)
Top 11 Ways Sony Plans to Celebrate Their Blu-ray Victory
Top 11
Ways Sony Plans to Celebrate Their Blu-Ray Victory
11. Add rootkit code to all Blu-Ray DVDs.
10. Send solid gold fruit basket to Time Warner.
9. Change name of Blu-Ray to something more meaningful. Like HD-DVD.
8. Get unused "Victory for Betamax" banners out of storage. Edit them for the party.
7. Call guys at Toshiba, and play Beck's "Loser" over the phone.
6. Watch Rising Sun on their HD-DVD player.
5. Release next generation of Higher-Definition video.
4. Get T-shirts printed up that say, "The HD stands for Hopeless Despair" and send them to engineers at Toshiba.
3. Raise price on Playstation 3 by $100.
2. Release Gigli on Blu-Ray.
1. Savor the brief moment of victory, while preparing for the next embarrassing defeat.
Number 2 is just hilarious.
FYI, The film received six Razzies in the 2003 Golden Raspberry Awards – Worst Picture, Worst Actor, Worst Actress, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Screen Couple.
(excerpt from wikipedia). Just to clear things up right away, I have never seen this putrid movie (somethings you just learn to take on faith I guess).
I got quite a kick outta Number 11 as well.
Holy crap I have not had a good laugh like this in a while. A really good change in an otherwise shitty shitty week (and gets shittier by the minute - for reals). I will buy someone dinner if something good comes of this week. And ice cream.

Argh
My wrist is all stiff as shit, my thumb still hurts, and the stupid metal splints are digging into my arm...
I'm gonna use my roll of bandage underneath this brace to see if that will help cushion that stupid metal splint from wrecking further havoc on my inner arm.
Playstation 3 Rumble Bundle
This just in!
Kickass!
I've been waiting for the bundle. But it looks like it will come with a game that I am eagerly waiting for. Metal Gear Solid 4! (I am a die-hard Metal Gear Solid fan).
Dual Shock 3, MGS4, now all I need is GT5.
Rest assured, I will be picking up a PS3 (well another one) this summer (especially since the others are with the family).
Wewt!
EDIT: Hopefully my stupid wrist will be all dandy then....
Sooo...
But man my wrist feels stiff from not being able to move and the plate is digging into my inner arm (the soft part). Argh!
But I have imposed a 2 week wearing period to myself to keep this bad boy on and man it's gonna be rough.

My Greatest Opponent
"My greatest opponent is myself."
So true is so many ways I guess. Just a nice thing to ponder about.
And I just realized I did three posts today! zomg yeah!
Mental note to self
What did 15 minutes of 'playing' get me? A right hand thats wrapped up once again. Jeez. I thought 2+ weeks of R&R was enough. Guess not dammit.
Now here I am, hand wrapped up, popping Ibuprofen already and probably going to go to Walgreen's on my way back to pick up an proper brace. This bandage wrap is handy dandy but not cutting it anymore.
I mean how the freaking hell could I get injured playing guitar. I only did multiple 8 hour straight sessions?! That's weak! BAH!
I just want this stupid tendinitis to be over with. Godspeed.
Relations
I just felt like typing about a conjecture I have in regards to human relations. No not the kinda thing a HR department has. More like person to person kinda thing.
From what I have gathered from the people who have known me a while, I say it's somewhat reasonably safe to say that I am a pretty nice person. Probably above average.
But at what point does one try help another without intruding on the person? Is giving help intruding on someone? Is receiving help a sign of weakness? I'm sure there are points that could swing it either way.
Human relations to be broadly defined (well its my term haha) is when two people come together and work towards something (usually a common goal). The means and manner are irrelevant (very broad scope right now - trees in the woods not wood on the trees) for my purposes right now. No one person is ever the same (although they may share the same interests, etc). As such when two people sit down to do something together, friction almost definitely arises to whatever degree. This is always the case regardless of the level of involvement.
You always care about people you know. The level of involvement always dictates to the lengths you would go to in caring for that person. Obviously I would not care and help a 'normal' friend to the same level as I would to say close family and a significant other right?
Also there are some intersecting common areas between helping and caring. But what is my personal distinction? Caring is helping someone in whatever shape or form with out a desire for reciprocity. It is an act of betterment that one engages in expecting nothing in return. Helping for me is more of a favor. Some understood form of future payback is usually associated. Care is an act of giving for the prime sake of betterment.
But at what point does caring and helping intrude on one another? Is there such a distinction? Unwanted help surely does exist. But care? Caring is something the world needs more of. It's the warm fuzzy blanket in the solemn grey cold and wet days. Care is what makes a person rise above and accomplish things that are not needed by anyone yet benefits them if done. No one needs to really help the sick and needy. If no one lends a helping hand, they will carry on as is, but if someone stops by and goes "hey, I can do something here", then whatever little is done, it is still a little bit better. Care, as with most other good virtues is one of those things that people do not lose anything if nothing is done but plenty to gain if someone does something about it. Sure it may be an intrusion to a certain degree, but it ultimately makes things better. Better is good right?
So where am I going with this? No where really. I just felt like talking about it.
Thanks for reading.

Windows Vista
SP1 White papers
I have been using Vista for almost a year now (thanks to a buddy of mine for the hook up). Obviously my main motivation was for DX10 (I am a cutting edge hard core gamer). The DX10 opinions aside though (some say its no real difference but whatever), in all I actually really like Vista. True, there is a performance hit, and I have to confirm and reconfirm every other thing I want to do (run program, delete crap, etc) but by large, I love it.
Obviously a major change is the interface (which I really like). I don't see why people give a big deal over how interface is useless and uses up too much power. Aero is pretty, so is Flip 3d, and Dreamscene (for us Ultimate version people ;) ). But if you'll be staring at crap all the time, it might as well be something pretty right?
I love the desktop search and it's instant search abilities (the moment you start keying in characters, it's already pulling stuff up). For me, file browsing is way better in Vista then it is in XP. My main gripe about this has always been the vaulted file transfers (I can feel myself age when moving crap around). This however is supposedly one of the major things addressed in SP1. So fingers crossed. My friends who have beta'd SP1 have nothing but good things to say about it.
Another thing that I do hate about Vista is networking. I couldn't set up a static ip to save my life. My buddy at Oregon State University says that Vista PCs wrek havoc on their DHCP servers. I just wanted some freaking static IP for simplicity. I have since resigned to the fact and enabled uPNP on my router (which I really would rather not have done). If anyone out there in cyberspace knows how the fuck to do this lemme know (coz I've tried and tried but I'm a dumb ass and may have missed something anyways). I think its the IPv6 messing things up. BAH.
SP1 should bring out plenty of changes that we've been waiting for. I guess for some is the 'increased stability'. I personally have never had a stability issue that I've attributed directly to Vista (haha hardware causes are common for me though - always tinkering and pushing). It does irritate me somewhat that just because shit doesn't work on Vista, its Microsoft's fault. Come on people. Attribute equal or more blame on the developer of that program for not making something halfway decent or not releasing updates for it.
Another thing that I welcome is the reintroduction of Disk Defragmenter's ability to defrag individual drives. I thought it was crazy silly that I had to defrag my close to 1TB of space just to clear up my windows partition. I later on found a way to defrag that partition through administrator console. (defrag c: -w -f FOR THE WIN!).
But I guess we'll see in a few weeks. :)
And obviously my view is that through the eyes of a user and a power user at that. I could care less what kinda coding went to it (does not pertain to me really haha). All I care is that shit is going to work better.

Toshiba to exit HD-DVD
Investors cheer
About freaking time. The HD-DVD camp has been in pretty deep water for a while. They have suffered blow after blow lately (in the past few days). I guess once could conclude that the consumers really did not want two formats (well no Duh right?).
For me personally, it's really about freaking time. A lot of people predict that prices can finally start to fall even further. The Blu-ray camp has been continuously improving things on their end. New laser diodes, the flagship Sony Playstation 3 is doing a lot better.
God speed.
For those who maybe curious, read my little write up of it a while back.
HERE
This bad boy has evolved so much since then that it is way better now. Tons of new features and improvements have been tacked on (as I predicted in the write up by the way ;) ).
So I was right
But in all, it was not a bad day at all. After that, had a great evening (tons of fun, ice cream, and chocolates!), saw new places, met new people (what a fun lively bunch), and stayed up all night chatting (haven't done that in ages).
So I guess things should slow down a tad. However I am still on the offensive I guess (I don't step back from defeat.
At any rate, you will see tons of techie related opinions very soon (as soon as I have an opinion on anything haha).

Saturday! Wakey Wakey!
I can't even remember when was the last time I woke up at freaking 6am on a Saturday. WTH?
The actual test will start at 12:15pm (that's in the afternoon for those who get confuzzled easily).
They ask that I arrive 30mins earlier. I will monitor traffic conditions and adjust my departure time accordingly.
Now I gotta wake up ASAP so I can start crunching (no point in trying when I half awake really). Megadeth is helping to speed up the process. :) Will probably blast some trance as well (4 Strings) as that always seems to lift up my energy & awareness levels. :)
I really hope I don't get PWNT too badly. If I don't get a good enough score this time around, I will miss the full time MBA deadline but I will have a second chance with the part time MBA program (but is more challenging) as its deadline is a month later (GMAT retests have to be a month later too).
At any rate, I have prepared so I will accept whatever out come (after either much celebration or much frustration haha - 'tis life right?).
Also I'm looking forward to getting some Ice Cream action going on at Coldstone after the MBA so I'm very much looking forward to that.
After this I will start posting more techie crap (as it is kinda time consuming to whip stuff up).

Ugh
:\
Latest test:
Verbal Section: 36/41
Quantitative Section: 30/37
BAH!
NEED MORE!
Just to bring people up to speed
I am a computer hardware freak. I spend most of my free time reading up on tech news. Sad but true. :( But if anything is wrong with your PC or if you want to do anything with it, chances are, I know exactly what would be best. Did I mention that I also write about computers? www.techarp.com is where it's cool to be. ;)
So how is it like being sad and reading about computer crap all day? Well it's not too bad I guess. I have this innate sense of curiosity and big desire to help people out (what better way then spreading knowledge through this right?). However, there are those party poopers out there that say 'Oh you're biased, you keep recommending this and that'. Well I'm sorry I didn't pick the brand that you're a fan of. Kinda funny (in a pathetic way) fan boys call me a fan boy. Only bias I have is to putting money (that is hard earned) to the better product.
But I digress (as you will most definitely see oftenly ;) ).
What am I up to?
Hoping to get into graduate school right now. Kinda working right now to save up and help finance that. Wanna get cracking on my MBA before I get way too rusty. Computers are my interest, business is my passion and thus I have dedicated my life towards that. My ideal job would be (naturally) with a tech company that I would allow me to truly be in the industry that I love so much (to itty bitty bits).
In fact, I am supposed to take my GMAT tomorrow. I fully expect to be slaughtered. I have tons riding on this one test as if I am unable to score a high enough score, I will have to wait for next year (as I would miss the application deadline for this year).
What other stuff about me?
I'm big into gaming. PC and Console. I am one of the Clan leaders of a Counter Strike beta clan (est. 1999). www.clanmkal.net
PsYkHoTiK is my online handle. More people know me by that name then my real name (haha I R sad). Google it up. Though that person from myspace isn't me, and neither is that hate site (i r teh lover) and I am not French. haha!
I love to write. I am crazy anal about spelling. I use acronyms sparingly (though in this modern world it's hard not to use LMAO LOL ZOMG omghi2u, rawr (me trade mark war cry) and the such. I do not butcher the English language. And as for the English language, I make it a point to speak and spell in American English. As my more former colony attached friends say, I am a 'bloody American'.
I love: Cars, PCs, weapons, gaming, sleeping, being lazy, more gaming, cooking, eating (almost forgot), and joking around and more sleeping.
I hate: Being bored, being lonely (kinda hard for me to avoid that one), being hungry, being thirsty, being hot (like hot day outside and no shade).
Got any questions or need help with computers and stuff? Just hit me up and I'll do my best to answer them. :)
If there are any readers yet (doubt it) post up and say something. :)
Hey I just started this
No idea.
I am a techie I guess. Computer geek. Trying to find a life I guess (though this is kinda a step away from IRL). IDK. Random.
I just thought that I would toss my randomness online so that all may revel and bask before it.
What else better then the almighty Google to host all of it.
Also because I am incredibly lazy, I chose the semi decent template right off the bat (I suck at graphics so no fancy pants stuff here). :)
Just wanted to say hi cyberspace!
